Professional Future

Inspiration for your professional future

Are you just about to finish school? maybe you’re taking a break from university and aren’t quite sure what to do afterwards? Perhaps you are interested in working in nature or the environment in future? The wilderness experiences provided by NATUCATE are the best possible way to find out more about natural habitats and get an unforgettable impression of what a “green job” involves. We provide a variety of multiweek courses which you can use as an introduction during the holidays or after finishing school.

Internship and credit points

If you are a student in a relevant field, you can use our wilderness experience courses as an internship. Some universities also recognise the Field Guide Level 1 training course as part of your studies and will provide credit points. We recommend contacting the relevant office at your university to find out exactly how they view these courses. We can also help you if you like.

From theory to practice

Are you already working in a field related to nature or the environment? Then a wilderness experience is an excellent way to take a break from your day-to-day. The unique backdrop at the heart of the natural environment provides an opportunity to swap theory for practice and expand on your existing practical experience. You can also adapt to the pace of the natural environment and recover from your hectic day-to-day. Wilderness experiences are also suitable for anybody looking to change their career who wants to find out what it’s like to work in the field. Our field guide courses in Africa provide particularly exciting training opportunities.

Your break

Career break

A wilderness experience is also suitable for anybody thinking about taking a temporary career break. Leave the stress of your job behind, take a breath and rediscover yourself. Use your wilderness experience as a sabbatical and recharge your batteries at the heart of an untouched natural environment. Additional information about sabbaticals is available on our homepage. Just get in touch and we will give you all the advice you need.

Regardless of whether you are a pupil, a student or someone who loves an adventure and wants a change in life - taking part in our wilderness courses will serve you well for the future. What you learn on the course will be an excellent addition to your CV.

Confirmation that you have taken part in the course will be provided after you finish. You can also do a test at the end of certain courses to acquire a recognised certificate (FGASA – Field Guide Association of Southern Africa), which will help you to become a professional nature guide.

Personal requirements

The opportunity to visit a beautiful destination should not be your reason for taking part in our programme. To take part in the will that experience, you must be enthusiastic about nature, have an affinity for the outdoors, love animals and be open to the world. All of our courses require you to be interested in nature and have a desire to research it. You will also need to be tolerant and adaptable, as you will be spending a significant amount of time with people who may, at least initially, seem quite different to you.
It is important that you have a good level of English so that you can understand the instructions of your course leader.
