By participating in one of our Wilderness Experience courses in Argentina students will have the chance to spend an unforgettable time in the midst of the breathtaking Andes, to acquire new knowledge about the country’s biodiversity and living in the outdoors and to return home with countless valuable experiences.
With an area of more than 2,8 mio. km² and a north-south-expansion of almost 3700 km Argentina is the eighth-largest country of the world and the second-largest country of South America. It borders Bolivia in the north, Paraguay in northeastern direction, Uruguay in southeastern direction, Brazil in the east and Chile in the west. Argentina’s capital is Buenos Aires. More than 90 % of the 43 mio. people living in the country are descendants of European migrants.
Argentina reveals a high variation in climate and vegetation which is due to its large north-south-expansion. Patagonia in the southern part of the country as well as the Andes are characterized by a rather cold climate. The centre is more subtropical and temperate, wherease the north is rather tropical.
The country’s flora and fauna is characterized by a unique biodiversity, which varies depending on the vegetation and climate zone. Monkeys, jaguars, pumas, coatis, anteaters and different reptiles as well as plenty of bird species like hummingbirds, tucans and parrots can be observed in the tropical areas. Along the coast you can find penguins, seals and sea bears, orcas and other whales. The Andean condor – as the name reveals – can be found in the Andes.
Because of its natural and geographical diversity Argentina is the ideal destination for outdoor enthusiasts, nature scientists and adventurers. Explore a world of untouched nature and unique landscapes which will make your stay abroad an unforgettable experience.
