Highlights

Xakanaxa Camp is a traditional safari camp that offers wonderful comfort and service. It lies in a picturesque location directly on the Khwai River in the middle of the Moremi Game Reserve. This area is known for its animal density and is considered one of the most beautiful protected areas in southern Africa. Exciting wildlife excursions – exclusively by game drive or in a boat/mokoro – can be made from the camp. The special feature: water-based activities can be carried out here all year round. Occasionally the wildlife even shows itself directly in front of the front door. Each tent offers a unique view of the open grass and river landscape of the Khwai River, where hippos and other wild animals of the region can be seen regularly.

Animals

The Moremi Game Reserve is famous for its magnificent animal wealth. On the daily game drives and boat or mokoro trips you can observe an abundance of wild animals. Elephants, lions, buffalos, hyenas, hippopotamuses, giraffes, zebras, kudus, moorland antelopes and horse antelopes are frequently seen. In particular, water-based activities can be used to discover the numerous bird species of the region - various storks, cranes and white-tailed eagles - as well as hippos, crocodiles and other representatives of African wildlife. Who has special luck, perhaps even spies one of the rare African wild dogs. And even from your own tent veranda you can make unique sightings of hippos, elephants, crocodiles or other animals that visit the water of the Khwai River.
