Nature Travel Tanzania: Wilderness Experience Wild Kokoko
Experience Tanzania like never before – undisturbed, immersive, and truly close to the wild, with our exclusive Private Wilderness Experience Wild Kokoko!
In a small group, you will explore a remote area of northern Ruaha National Park, with plenty of time, peace and quiet, and special moments in the wilderness. PWE Wild Kokoko is deliberately minimalist in design: one camp, one area, a maximum of six participants.
Instead of constantly moving from place to place, you remain in one location and explore the wilderness in a variety of ways; on foot, on game drives, during tracking activities, or on night drives. Every activity offers unique access to the landscapes and the subtle rhythms of nature.
Experienced guides will lead you through the terrain, sharing their knowledge of animals, plants, and ecosystems. Learning happens naturally along the way – through observation, conversation, and a slow, mindful approach. Talks and workshops are also a central part of our Private Wilderness Experiences, giving you a deeper understanding of the ecosystem.
The very remote Kokoko Camp offers a very special experience: less luxury, more closeness. Fewer visitors, more peace and quiet. Less distance from nature, more immersion. Wild Kokoko means not just being in the wilderness – but becoming part of it. Join us on this unique Natucate group journey PWE Wild Kokoko!

PWE Wild Kokoko
Explore northern Ruaha National Park on our Private Wilderness Experience – an exclusive group tour that takes you deep back to nature.
Arrival in Tanzania
The journey begins in Dar es Salaam, where the group meets on the first day to get to know each other, settle organisational details, and spend the first night. The next morning, you travel together by charter flight to Msembe Airstrip, which takes approximately 1 hour non-stop.
This is followed by a 45-minute drive through the northern Ruaha National Park to Kokoko Camp, where the nature-based immersion begins.
Camp in Tanzania
Kokoko Camp is an exclusive camp on the seasonal Mwagusi River in northern Ruaha National Park. The camp consists of just three unique tents for guests, which are deliberately spaced apart.
The tent roofs can be retracted, transforming the tent into an open sky cube. Ideal for stargazing at night right from your bed – a truly magical experience in this remote location.
Each tent has an en-suite bathroom, a hand basin and an outdoor shower. The furnishings are minimalist but in safari style. Moreover, from the tent, you can enjoy incredible views of the surrounding landscape.
The open communal area with a fire pit and dining area is elevated, overlooking the riverbed and surrounding rocks. Minimalist, well thought-out and deeply connected to its surroundings: Kokoko is a place to stay, observe and breathe deeply in nature.
Activities during PWE Wild Kokoko
In the Kokoko area, you will explore the region on foot and on day and night drives. Each activity invites you to consciously perceive your surroundings: observing animal behaviour, identifying tracks, sounds and even small signs of life.
Highlights include overnight stays under the starry sky and extended observations at waterholes. Throughout the trip, workshops and discussions offer insights into the history of the region, its ecosystems and its conservation projects.
Food and leisure during the experience
Breakfast is often served as a picnic so that we can get an early start to the day. We usually enjoy lunch al fresco in the shade of the communal area, before dinner is prepared over an open fire in the evening.
Between activities, the camp offers opportunities for relaxation and nature observation: watch birds right from your tent, follow the afternoon activity in the riverbed or enjoy a shower under the open sky. This allows you to actively experience nature, find peace and enjoy your own moments of tranquillity.
Our PWE Spirit
PWE Wild Kokoko stands for slowing down, closeness and genuine experiences. You don't travel as a spectator, but as part of a small community exploring this special place together. It's not about ticking off highlights, but about noticing the details, understanding animal behaviour and experiencing the wilderness with all your senses.
You disconnect from everyday life, fully immerse yourself in nature, and share this experience with people who value and appreciate the same things.
Wildlife at Ruaha
The remote location of the camp makes northern Ruaha a true haven for wildlife: lions, leopards, cheetahs, African wild dogs, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, antelopes, and over 550 bird species thrive across its diverse and rich habitats.
While wildlife sightings are part of the journey, the focus is on slow exploration and mindful observation – noticing animal behaviour, tracks, sounds, and the subtle rhythms of the wilderness rather than ticking off highlights. This journey is not about entertainment, but about truly experiencing and feeling the wild.
