Background on the regions of our safari

Hwange National Park, nestled in western Zimbabwe, stands as the country's largest natural reserve, renowned for its astonishing wildlife diversity. Its landscape varies from the Zambezi watershed in the north to grasslands, marshes, and scattered woodlands in the west. Notable water sources like Nehimba and Shakwanki attract animals, including one of the world's largest elephant populations and over 100 mammal species. Among these roam protected species like the endangered wild dog, critically endangered black rhino, and rare roan and sable antelope. Birdwatchers delight in spotting around 500 bird species while exploring through bush hikes, game drives, or horseback safaris.

Across Zimbabwe's far north-west lies Zambezi National Park, bordering Zambia along the Zambezi River. With the renowned Victoria Falls almost within sight, the park offers a captivating blend of wildlife and natural wonders. Home to the Big Five and other notable species like giraffe, zebra, eland, and sable antelope, it also boasts a wealth of birdlife, with over 400 species recorded. The Zambezi River itself teems with aquatic life, from bream and tiger fish to crocodiles. The park's lush rainforest, adorned with orchids, ferns, and fig trees, serves as a haven for butterflies, offering a serene contrast to the river's powerful currents.

Victoria Falls, a jewel in Zimbabwe's crown, stands as one of the world's most awe-inspiring waterfalls. Spanning 1708 meters, it graces the Zambezi River, forming the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. Accessible from the Zimbabwean side, the falls are easily admired from the quaint town of Victoria Falls. Here, visitors can revel in a plethora of adrenaline-fueled activities, from scenic flights and bungee jumping to kayaking and once-in-a-lifetime excursions into Chobe National Park.
