Nestled in the untouched primary forest of Masoala National Park, the Masoala Forest lodge offers an immersive escape into one of the most biodiverse rainforests on earth. The crystal blue waters of the Indian Ocean meet pristine sandy beaches and dense, ancient forests. The air is alive with the calls of rare birds and endemic lemur species, found only in Masoala National Park.

Experiencing Masoala Forest Lodge is to encounter Madagascar's extraordinary natural heritage and beating heart.

Location in Madagascar

Located on the north-eastern coast of Madagascar, within the Masoala Peninsula, Masoala Forest Lodge rests where the rainforest meets the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.

Because of the remote location, the only way to access the lodge is to first fly to the town of Maroantsetra, then take a boat transfer across the Maosala Peninsula.

Amenities of the Masoala Forest Lodge

Seven palm-thatched ‘tree houses’ sit elevated with views of either the Indian Ocean or the forest canopy, each unit has western bathrooms and hot water showers.

From this height, you experience the forest symphonies with maximum privacy and natural ventilation.

Enjoy the view of the beach from your veranda and relax with a delicious drink between activities.

The communal open-plan beach house provides natural lighting and is the perfect spot for a quiet moment. The sea deck sits on ancient coastal rocks, overlooking the ocean, where you can enjoy breakfast or simply take in the day.

Wildlife of Masoala

Masoala National Park is one of the most biodiverse places on earth, the complicated ecosystems support a wide range of highly specialised wildlife.

The Park is best known for the remarkable number and variety of primates, most notably the red ruffed lemur, endemic to the region. Masoala supports some of the world’s most fascinating reptiles, such as the leaf-tailed gecko and panther chameleons.

The birdlife of Masoala is extraordinary; the forest around the lodge resonates with the call of rare birds such as the iconic helmet vanga. Beyond the larger and more visible wildlife, the forest pulses with life at every level, from insects and amphibians to countless smaller creatures that complete this intricate ecosystem.
