Duration: 13 Days

Review Private Wilderness Experience: PWE Hwange

For me, the PWE Zimbabwe offered an incredible insight into the ecosystem of Hwange National Park, allowing me to gain a better understanding of the complex interrelationships.

The focus was not on game viewing but on understanding nature, particularly the small creatures, which I liked. This is probably also due to the season and the exceptionally high previous rainfall, resulting in dense vegetation. I would highlight this specifically to avoid misunderstandings and disappointment for visitors expecting game viewing.

Camp in Hwange National Park

Camp Jozibanini is wonderfully chosen. I particularly liked the remoteness from tourism so we were far away from others. The service and meals were excellent.

Only a shaded spot at the tent was somewhat missing for me in the midday sun, but I could easily retreat to the communal tent – with such a small group, this is not a problem.

Activities during the Private Wilderness Experience

The daily walks combined with the inputs from Meg were an absolute highlight for me. Perhaps here one could still vary a bit with shorter or longer walks.

The nighttime visit to the hideout was simply amazing! I would definitely include this in the program. I will never forget those evenings.

The drives were somewhat limited due to the limited road network and, because of the dense vegetation, focused mainly on birdwatching, which could become a bit monotonous for non-bird lovers.

The two day trips to the north of the park were long and kinda exhausting, yet I would not want to miss either of them. Perhaps next time, the two trips could be separated a little more.

What I also really appreciated were the quiet times in the camp, during which one could simply enjoy, talk with each other, and process experiences.

Overall, I found the activities very successful.

Guiding and knowledge

Dear Meg,

Your expertise is incredible, especially considering your young age.

The enthusiasm with which you explain things and tell stories is very refreshing and makes understanding incredibly easy. In addition, you are simply a wonderful person with whom you can laugh and cry, share funny and serious stories, and just feel comfortable.

Thank you!

My first time at Hwange at a glance

The PWE Hwange was a wonderful time for me in the African bush, fully in the spirit of a comprehensive understanding of nature with a focus on the small and inconspicuous things, combined with wonderful walks, drives, and nighttime surprises.

The Camp Jozibanini positively surprised me in every way and is definitely worth another visit. Many thanks for the great time!

I will definitely come back to another mindful safari at any time.
