Volunteer Abroad Why Volunteer Overseas?

Create your own Adventure

What is the difference between volunteer work and a normal holiday?

Volunteer work gives you an opportunity to see the world in a personal way and play a voluntary role in valuable projects. While a tourist simply plays the role of an observer, volunteers play an active role in protecting endangered habitats. Your work will take you off the beaten path and bring you face-to-face with problems and dangers which the average person doesn’t get to see. The abstract impact of climate change or urban sprawl will become visible and easy to understand as you will be provided with a well-founded introduction to the specific dangers facing these fascinating habitats before you go to work on the project. Get involved in valuable volunteer projects and protect the unique nature and beauty of our natural environment.

Advantages

The advantages of taking part

In addition to the good feeling that you get from being involved in worthwhile projects, you will also find that your time in the camp will help develop you as a person. Your nature and species conservation work will bring you face-to-face with new experiences and exciting challenges on a daily basis. This experience is the perfect complement to your school or university education. Working with others on the volunteer project will teach you how to take responsibility and will broaden your horizons by giving you the opportunity to try out new things. The physical work that you will be doing will put you in situations outside of your normal comfort zone. You will find out what you’re capable of and discover new sides to yourself.

This learning by doing approach will give you a completely new view of the world after years of desk work. Your active engagement and experience will put your theoretical knowledge to your practical test. This will allow you to develop key skills which you can use in other areas of your life.

As part of an international team, you will never be left alone. By mastering challenges together, you may make some friends for life and improve your foreign language skills in addition to a hefty chunk of life experience.

This combination of voluntary commitment, outdoor experiences and personal challenges will make your time abroad unforgettable. Your work on the project will give you a new perspective on your day-to-day life back at home.

Your commitment

How will your commitment help nature?

Your commitment will benefit nature and animal conservation projects in addition to helping you to grow as a person. Your work and assistance will be used where it is needed. The projects will frequently involve recording animal population levels, combating invasive plant species or creating new footpaths. You may not see the fruits of your labour immediately. This may lead you to question whether there is any point to what you’re doing. Like many things in life, nature conservation consists of a series of diligent steps which come together to provide a genuine benefit for the natural environment.

Payment

Why do I have to pay to volunteer?

People are occasionally confused about why they have to pay money to work. This may well sound like a contradiction in terms, but there is a simple explanation.

Our part

    Our part

Many charitable projects turn to professional agencies like NATUCATE to get voluntary helpers so that they can focus on their day-to-day business. We provide a platform which volunteers can use to see what products are available. We will discuss the details of the project and your responsibilities so that we can avoid misunderstandings and take your wishes and interests into consideration. The application process for several projects involves making sure that participants meet the necessary requirements. Having committed employees is the only way for the projects to work effectively for nature and species conservation purposes. Our services will help you to hurdle all of the obstacles in the way of you going on your adventure.

    Requirements

What are the requirements for taking part?

    Personal requirements

We are responsible for having an application process which identifies suitable participants to join our project partners. Your motivation for taking part should not be simply to visit a beautiful destination for as little money as possible.

Instead, people who join the volunteer projects of NATUCATE must have a passion for nature, a love of animals, an affinity for the outdoors and an openness to the world. You will also need a certain degree of tolerance and adaptability in order to deal with people who might, at least initially, seem quite strange to you.

It is important that you have a good level of English and can understand the instructions of your project manager.

A basic level of physical fitness is enough for most projects, but you will need a medical report providing details of your physical condition before you can go on projects which are particularly physically challenging.

Our code of conduct will let you know what we expect from you during your trip.

    Formal requirements

    • You must be at least 18 years old to join our projects. Only a small number of projects have an age limit.

    • You must have a valid passport and appropriate overseas health insurance.

    • You will also need vaccinations and possibly a Visa, depending on the country and region that you are going to.

    • Some projects and our internship program require you to be a registered student or a graduate in a relevant field.

The formal requirements for each project are listed in the product descriptions on our homepage. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
